"Moderate alcohol consumption of similar to 1-2 drinks per day has been associated with a 30-50% increase in breast cancer risk. Individuals differ in their ability to metabolize alcohol through genetic differences in alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH), the enzyme that catalyzes the oxidation of similar to 80% of ethanol to acetaldehyde, a known carcinogen," scientists in the United States noted.
