Researchers' data from Scotland and the United Kingdom advance breast cancer research

Data on breast cancer are outlined in reports from Scotland and the United Kingdom.

Study 1: Breast cancer treatment by breast-conserving surgery (BCS) with intra-operative radiotherapy (IORT) was studied.

"Wide local excision followed by external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) to the whole breast has become the standard of care for most patients with localised 'early' breast cancer in the UK, Europe, and the USA. Local relapse rates are low, and overall survival figures have improved during the past decade, with the advent of more effective systemic endocrine- and chemotherapy," scientists writing in the journal Clinical Oncology...
