Findings from Finland, Belgium and Poland advance knowledge in breast cancer research

Reports from Finland, Belgium and Poland highlight recent research in breast cancer.

Study 1: Predisposition to familial breast cancer was not significantly associated with RAD50 gene expression.

"The genes predisposing to familial breast cancer are largely unknown, but 5 of the 6 known genes are involved in DNA damage repair. RAD50 is part of a highly conserved complex important in recognising, signalling and repairing DNA double-strand breaks," scientists writing in the International Journal of Cancer reported.
