Studies from the People's Republic of China, Italy and United Kingdom add new findings to cervical cancer body of knowledge

New findings from the People's Republic of China, Italy and United Kingdom describe advances in cervical cancer.

Study 1: Cervical cancer patients treated with preoperative chemotherapy have improved long-term survival.

Investigators at Wuhan University sought "to determine the most effective treatment and long-term outcome of patients with stage IB carcinoma of the cervix."

"From January 1999 to December 2001, 106 women with cervical cancer stage IB received neoadjuvant chemotherapy (n=52) or primary surgery (n=54). These were randomly assigned. Clinical effects and pathological changes were simultaneously recorded," explained...
