Emergency contraception in the United States is the focus of an article published in a recent issue of Medical Anthropology Quarterly.

According to that report, "This article is an examination of the FDA hearing on a proposal to permit nonprescription access to the emergency contraceptive pill Plan B. Participants debated the drug's impact on female and young adult sexuality, illustrating bow the rhetoric over disciplining pharmaceutical use in the American public is a displaced language for talking about disciplining women's and girls' sexuality."
