Pennsylvania DEP Releases 3rd Quarter Mammography Inspections

The Department of Environmental Protection released reports showing that all of the 67 mammography facilities it inspected during 2007's third quarter are operating within the guidelines set forth by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

DEP inspects each of Pennsylvania's approximately 400 certified mammography facilities annually under a contract with the FDA, which sets standards for these facilities under the federal Mammography Quality Standards Act.

The inspections help to ensure that this sophisticated equipment is maintained and operated properly.
