Report summarizes proteomics study findings from Central South University

New research, 'Corticotropin-releasing hormone activates connexin 43 via activator protein-1 transcription factor in human myometrial smooth muscle cells,' is the subject of a report. "Corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) and connexin 43 (Cx43) play crucial roles in uterine contraction and the onset of labor. The aim of the present study was to investigate the regulatory effects of CRH on Cx43 expression in human myometrial smooth muscle cells (SMCs) and, potentially, its activation of the c-Fos/activator protein (AP)-1 signaling pathway," scientists in Changsha, People's Republic of China report.
