San Francisco City Hall Turns Pink, Draws Attention to Disparities in Breast Cancer Screening, Treatment

On Jan. 11, elected officials will join advocates from the San Francisco Bay Area Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure to bathe City Hall in pink, highlighting the urgent need to address disparities in breast cancer early detection and treatment. Each year in California, more than 19,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer and 4,000 die from the disease.

On Jan. 17 and 18, hundreds of representatives from Komen Affiliates throughout the state will travel to the State Capitol in Sacramento to challenge decision makers to "close the gaps" in policy and funding so that more women in California have access to quality breast health care and information.
