Heart Bypass Surgery

Research conducted at University of Milan has provided new information about heart bypass surgery

According to recent research published in the journal Annals of Thoracic Surgery, "The purpose of this study was to determine whether, in recent years, sex differences in the type of care during coronary artery bypass graft surgery procedures occurred. Between 1995 and 2004, 5,935 consecutive patients (4,867 men and 1,068 women) underwent isolated coronary artery bypass graft surgery; propensity score matching was used to investigate whether sex adversely impacts standard care and early outcomes of coronary revascularization."
