Research results from Queen Mary Hospital update knowledge of cervical cancer

"This study was aimed at investigating the death-associated protein kinase (DAPK) promoter methylation and its clinical relevance in cervical cancer. The DAPK promoter methylation was detected by methylation-specific PCR (MSP) and correlated with DAPK mRNA and protein expression," researchers in Hong Kong, People's Republic of China report.

"The effect of DAPK expression on the radio sensitivity of the cervical cancer cell line was assessed by overexpressing DAPK in the radioresistant cell line SiHa.
