"Reconstruction of the breast after mastectomy must be both safe and effective in providing long-term results for patients undergoing treatment for breast cancer," scientists in the United States report. "By using several strategically designed technical modifications in the elevation and transfer of the latissimus dorsi musculocutaneous flap, outstanding results can be obtained when this method combines with the use of prosthetic devices in the form of tissue expanders and implants.
