Researchers' work from University of Bristol, Department of Social Medicine focuses on women's health

New investigation results, 'Maternal anemia, iron intake in pregnancy, and offspring blood pressure in the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children,' are detailed in a study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. According to recent research published in the The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, "In animals, maternal iron deficiency during pregnancy results in elevated offspring blood pressure (BP). Studies in pregnant women are limited in number, have had inconsistent results, and have not accounted for maternal iron supplementation."
