New findings from Istanbul University in the area of breast cancer published

"In this study, we sought to assess the aberrant methylation of multiple tumor-suppressor genes in a single reaction by using methylation-specific multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification. Breast tumors and corresponding normal tissues of 77 patients were analyzed," investigators in Istanbul, Turkey report.

"In this study, 17 of 24 genes displayed promoter methylation in one or more of the tumor samples. The most frequently methylated genes were RASSF1 and GSTP1, followed by DAPK1 and CDKN2B," wrote N. Buyru and colleagues, Istanbul University.
