Research from J.J. Fox and colleagues provide new insights into breast cancer

"We report the detection of breast cancer metastatic to the kidney on F-18-FDG PET imaging. A 40-year-old woman with breast cancer previously metastatic to lymph nodes and lung underwent an FDG PET/CT scan demonstrating a solitary hypermetabolic exophytic renal nodule," investigators in the United States report. "Correlation with contrast-enhanced CT supported our suspicion of malignant involvement. Metastatic carcinoma of mammary origin was confirmed at partial nephrectomy," wrote J.J. Fox and colleagues.
