Investigators at Akita University, Department of Orthopedic Surgery Have Published New Data on Bone Research

2011 JAN 27 -- A report, 'Effects of a vitamin D analog, alfacalcidol, on bone and skeletal muscle in glucocorticoid-treated rats,' is newly published data in Biomedical Research. "Glucocorticoids cause secondary osteoporosis and myopathy. The efficacy of vitamin D on osteoporotic fractures is thought to be through direct effects on bone and indirect effects on muscles that help to prevent falls," scientists writing in the journal Biomedical Research report.
