Recent Findings in Chlamydia Infections Described by E. FitzMaurice and Colleagues

2011 DEC 29 -- "Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhea are the most commonly reported bacterial sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in the United States, and reinfection accounts for 14% to 30% of all reported cases of these STIs," researchers in Allentown, Pennsylvania report.

"Treatment of both the woman and her partner is imperative to prevent long-term sequelae," wrote E. FitzMaurice and colleagues.

The researchers concluded: "This report examines the clinical course of a woman diagnosed with Chlamydia during pregnancy, and reviews various approaches to treating partners, including patient referral, provider referral,...
