Findings from Clinical Hospital Advance Knowledge in Blood Pressure

2012 FEB 9 -- Research findings, "CYP19 gene expression in subcutaneous adipose tissue is associated with blood pressure in women with polycystic ovary syndrome," are discussed in a new report. According to the authors of recent research from Porto Alegre, Brazil, "In polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), hypertension has been linked to androgen excess and insulin resistance. Aromatase, an enzyme encoded by the CYP19 gene, affects androgen metabolism and estrogen synthesis, influencing the androgen to estrogen balance."
