Thyroid transcription factor-1 boosts radioiodide retention in thyroid cancer.

According to a study from Japan, "loss of thyroid-specific gene expression and functions accompanied by loss of thyroid transcription factors render them unresponsive to radioiodide therapy in poorly differentiated and anaplastic thyroid cancer. In anticipation of reactivation of thyroid functions, we investigated the effect of thyroid transcription factor-1 (TTF-1) gene transfer on thyroid cancer cells."
