Researchers detail new studies and findings in the area of oncology

Oncology data are the focus of recent research from Egypt, the South Korea and Scotland. Study 1: Hepatitis B virus may be a hit and run mutagen. "Hepatitis B virus is implicated in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma. No oncogenes have been identified within the viral genome," researchers in Egypt report. "Furthermore, it frequently fragments after integration into the hepatocyte genome. Simultaneous investigations of hepatitis B virus integration patterns and genetic changes in precancerous tissues are important to understand the role played by hepatitis B virus integration in hepatocellular carcinoma," according to M....
