Family Practice Residencies' Current Low Rate of Use Expected to Rise

Based on survey results, use of electronic medical records in family practice residency programs is predicted to almost triple this year.

J.G. Lenhart and colleagues at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center Residency in Family Medicine, Wilmington, North Carolina, surveyed 454 U.S. family practice residency programs on their use of electronic medical records (EMRs).

They reported their findings in the journal Family Medicine ("An analysis of trends, perceptions, and use patterns of electronic medical records among U.S. family practice residency programs," Fam Med, 2000;32(2):109-14).
