Doctors offer their own health plan for seniors

At 91, Bonetta Friedmeyer not only is being cared for by her physician. She's being coached by him to live more healthfully. After much hounding, Charles Willey, MD, persuaded her to quit smoking. Now he wants her to get a mammogram. He believes the aggressive nudging is good for his patients and his business. Willey is chief executive of Essence, one of the nation's first physician-owned health plans exclusively for older adults.
