Tennessee cancer patients get $265,000 in Taxol settlement

Tennessee cancer patients will share in a $7.2 million national settlement with Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. regarding prices charged for the drug Taxol. Attorney General Paul Summers said checks totaling nearly $265,000 were being mailed June 1, 2004. Each patient who fully paid for a single treatment with the physician-administered drug will be paid $525. Those who fully paid for more than one treatment will receive $438 for each one. The agreement was reached in an antitrust case in federal District Court in which Summers joined attorneys general of the other 49 states, D.C., and U.S. territories as counsel for a class of consumers...
