What: Approximately 60-65% of patients who are under the care of a Fertility Specialist discontinue their recommended treatment before completion, many due to cost. To address this, EMD Serono, Inc. is pleased to announce the launch of FertilityAssist 2, an enhanced program that will provide up to $500 in savings to eligible cash-paying patients during their second cycle on Gonal-f® (follitropin alfa for injection), the company’s recombinant human follicle stimulating hormone (rFSH). This new program is designed to help couples on their fertility journey by easing the financial burden and providing a discount to patients, helping them stay in treatment longer.
Who: Barbara Collura, Executive Director of RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association responded to the enhanced program by saying, “Infertility can be very difficult physically, emotionally and financially for those who are experiencing it. It is wonderful that EMD Serono has taken the initiative to enhance savings to patients undergoing a second treatment cycle who might otherwise discontinue for financial reasons.”
David Stern, Executive Vice President of Endocrinology, EMD Serono said, “EMD Serono is committed to identifying the needs of cash-paying patients and we believe that this additional savings will help them realize their goals by increasing their access to treatment. We are pleased to launch FertilityAssist 2 to aid patients on Gonal-f®.”
Specifics: Patients receive a discount by filling Gonal-f® cash prescriptions through Freedom Fertility Pharmacy™ for two cycles of treatment. The first cycle must contain a minimum of 1050 IU. On the second cycle, patients will receive cash savings of either $250 for 1050 IU or $500 for 2100 IU. Patients must enroll between April 1 and November 30, 2008.
